Sowing flax is an annual herb with an upright stem that can reach more than one meter in height. The flowers are small, blue or light blue, collected in umbels, at the very top of the stem. Subsequently, instead of the inflorescence, the fruit is formed-a round box with flat oval seeds. Leaves-narrow lanceolate, alternate, smooth and waxy.
Flax is widely used in light industry and national economy. Its seeds are used to make paints and varnishes, drying oils, and linoleum, and the stems are the basis for flax production. Flaxseed oil extracted from the stems of plants is a valuable food, and the cake obtained as a result of raw material processing is used as feed for livestock.
The main medicinal value is flaxseed, which is known for its anti-inflammatory effects due to its high mucus content. In addition, they are rich in protein, carbohydrates, vitamin A and acids: oleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, which are part of fatty oils.
Flaxseed is suitable for acute and chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: colitis, peptic ulcer and inflammatory processes of the urinary system. They are also often used as laxatives. Mucus wraps the stomach and intestinal walls from the inside, protecting them from toxic substances. For people suffering from bronchial diseases, oral administration is also recommended.
